Gold Award at 2025 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards 「2025恒隆數學獎」金獎

Student LI Siu Man, with the guidance of our teacher, has been awarded the Gold Award at the 2025 Hang Lung Mathematics Awards, distinguishing himself among nearly 100 teams from more than 50 secondary schools in Hong Kong. His prize-winning research, “Markov Chains Associated with Ultraspherical Polynomials: An Analysis of Weak Convergence and First Passage Time Functionals”, demonstrated his strength in rigorous reasoning, originality, and independent scholarship.

 

Established in 2004 and held biennially, the Hang Lung Mathematics Awards is co-organized by Hang Lung Properties and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology to nurture students’ research mindset and creativity. Participants must formulate their own topics, conduct year‑long investigations, submit academic papers, and undergo demanding oral defenses, reaching standards comparable to postgraduate-level work.

 

The Gold Award brings not only academic prestige but also substantial Student Education Awards and School Development Grants, supporting continued growth in mathematical research and innovative education. This honour affirms the school’s longstanding commitment to mathematics education and strengthens our mission of cultivating globally minded, creative learners.

 

在本校老師的指導下，本校學生李兆旻同學參加「2025恒隆數學獎」，於全港逾五十所中學、近一百支隊伍中脫穎而出，勇奪金獎。其獲獎研究報告《Markov Chains Associated with Ultraspherical Polynomials: An Analysis of Weak Convergence and First Passage Time Functionals》充分展現同學於嚴謹推理、創新思維及獨立研究方面的傑出能力。
