Chemistry Study Tour to Shanghai

Hong Kong Chinese Women's Club College organized a five-day "Shanghai Chemistry Study Tour" from July 16 to 20, 2026, allowing students to step out of the classroom and gain first-hand insight into the practical applications of chemistry in modern technology and industry. Throughout the multi-day itinerary, students explored the core principles of electrochemistry, environmental engineering, and materials chemistry.

 

At SAIC Motor Corporation Limited, students observed the automated production line for electric vehicle lithium battery assembly, deepening their understanding of oxidation-reduction reactions and energy storage technologies. At Canature Health Technology Group Co., Ltd., they examined the chemical processes behind water purification, membrane filtration, and wastewater recycling. Furthermore, at the Shanghai Maglev Transportation Science and Technology Museum, the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, and the Shanghai Aviation Science Museum, students investigated the properties and practical applications of key chemical substances, including rare earth elements and the lightweight composite materials essential for aerospace and advanced transportation.

 

A major highlight of the tour was a visit to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of China's premier institutions. During the academic exchange, university undergraduates warmly shared their campus experiences and study insights, explaining how tertiary courses build upon the scientific foundations established in secondary school. They also led discussions on cutting-edge research, allowing our students to experience the university's rich academic atmosphere. Additionally, during their visit to the Qian Xuesen Library & Museum, students gained a deeper appreciation of how a solid foundation in chemistry and the scientific spirit contribute to aerospace and industrial development. Combined with cultural visits to famous landmarks such as Tianzifang, Xintiandi, and The Bund, this study tour enabled students to truly appreciate that chemistry is far more than textbook knowledge—it is a vital driving force behind modern technological innovation.

 

香港中國婦女會中學於2026年7月16日至20日舉辦了為期五天的「上海化學研學之旅」，讓學生走出課室，親身了解化學在現代科技與工業中的實際應用。

 

在數天的行程中，學生深入探索了電化學、環保工程及材料化學的原理。在上汽電動車製造基地的自動化生產線，學生觀察了電動車鋰電池的裝配過程，加深了對氧化還原反應與能源儲存技術的認識；在開能環保產業園，學生則考察了水質淨化、膜過濾及廢水循環利用背後的化學過程。此外，在上海磁浮交通科技館、上海科技館及上海航空科普館中，學生深入探討了稀土元素以及航天與先進交通工具所需的輕量化複合材料等化學物質的特性與實際應用。

 

行程中的一大亮點是參觀中國頂尖學府之一的上海交通大學。在學術交流活動中，該校的大學生親切地與學生分享大學生活與學習心得，說明大學課程如何延展中學學到的科學基礎，並引導大家討論前沿科研成果，讓學生深切感受到這所名校濃厚的學術氛圍。而在參觀錢學森圖書館時，學生認識到扎實的化學基礎與科學精神對航天及工業發展的顯著貢獻。

 

結合田子坊、新天地及外灘等著名景點的文化體驗，這次研學之旅讓學生深刻明白到，化學不僅是課本上的知識，更是推動現代科技創新的重要力量。
